Potty Training Tips
We do encourage our puppies to use potty training pads starting after weaning.
We advise taking them outside to relieve themselves as soon as they wake up and every 45 minutes,
use the same area each time and a bite of kibble as a reward and you will have success as Brittanys are quick learners.
Females and UTI's
Just like humans, female puppies can get a Urinary Tract Infection.
Why?
They play and pee, they get sidetracked and forget to finish emptying their bladder. This leads for bacteria to develop.
How can you help?
When they pee, use an unscented wet wipe to clean their bottom.
By keeping this clean, it lessens the risk for bacteria.
Signs & Symptoms
- Frequent urination, often in small amounts.
- Straining or difficulty while urinating.
- Blood in the urine or a strong odor.
- Excessive licking of the genital area.
- Signs of discomfort or pain when urinating.
- Increased thirst and drinking more water than usual.
- Accidents in the house despite being house-trained.
- Whining or vocalizing during urination.
