Our Philosophy

At SRK, every decision we make begins with these guiding principles: the health, well-being, and futures of the Brittany. Since 2002, our commitment has been to raise exceptional Brittanys through responsible breeding, unwavering compassion, and a genuine love for the breed.

The well-being of our Brittanys has always come before everything else. Our breeding females are thoughtfully retired between five and six years of age and placed in carefully selected retirement homes where they can enjoy life as beloved family companions. Males are retired at 9-10 years of age and generally stay with us. Currently Muffin "Nanny" (13 1/2 years) and Top Gunner (9 1/2 years) are our permanent resident Brittanys.

Each day, our Brittanys receive individualized care, daily enrichment, structured exercise, training, and plenty of affection. They enjoy time running in secure outdoor areas and throughout our farm in Middle Tennessee. From the day they are born, every puppy is raised with purposeful socialization, hands-on interaction, and age-appropriate experiences that help develop confident, well-adjusted companions prepared for life with their new families.

Today, our fifth-generation SRK male, Walker Sage, proudly represents the continuation of the vision Charlie and Rosemary began more than two decades ago. He serves as a living reminder that through our thoughtful breeding, dedication, and a deep respect for the breed we continue to create a lasting legacy.

Responsible breeding requires continual growth and education. As our breeding program evolves, starting in 2026 we continue to strengthen our commitment through comprehensive genetic health testing and Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) evaluations. These tools allow us to make informed breeding decisions, preserve the exceptional qualities of the Brittany, and provide our puppy families with greater confidence in the lifelong health and soundness of their companions. Investing in health, structure, temperament, and genetic stewardship is one of the greatest responsibilities we have as breeders.

While we are proud of the quality of our Brittanys, what truly defines SRK is the lifelong relationships we build with our puppy families. We celebrate every hunting title, every agility ribbon, every therapy certification, every adventure, every birthday, and every milestone shared with us. When you welcome an SRK Brittany into your home, you become part of our extended family, and we remain a resource and source of support throughout your Brittany's life.

As we look toward the future, our mission remains steadfast: to preserve and improve the Brittany by producing healthy, intelligent, versatile dogs that excel in the field, in the home, and in the hearts of the families who love them. Every breeding is planned with purpose. Every puppy is raised with intention. Every family is treated with honesty, transparency, respect, and compassion.

What began with one Brittany named Maddie and a father's journey toward healing has grown into a legacy spanning 5 generations of remarkable dogs, devoted families, and lifelong friendships. Although the years have brought change, our promise remains the same—to honor the foundation Charlie and Rosemary established in 2002 by raising every SRK Brittany with integrity, dedication, and heart.
